Palestinian Students from Syria Allowed to Return to Lebanon

The Lebanese General Security has green-lighted the return of Palestinian students from Syria to Lebanon.

Some 50 Palestinian students enrolled at the Council of Churches Institute in Lebanon, returned to Syria to sit for high school exams, following cooperation with the Lebanese General Security.

In a letter emailed to AGPS, a family said the students have kept appealing to return to Lebanon for nearly a month’s time, after they faced tough conditions at Said AlAas institute in Damascus.

The students are expected to enter Lebanon on Wednesday.

Upon more than one occasion, AGPS has raised alarm bells over the striking upsurge in the rate of school dropouts among the Palestinians of Syria, several among whom have left schools to help feeding their impoverished families in unemployment-stricken refugee camps.
