Homes Flooded by Rain Downpours in Syria’s AlSabina Camp for Palestine Refugees

Displaced Palestinian families in AlSabina refugee camp, in Damascus, have voiced deep concerns over the upshots of the heavy rains that swamped residential neighborhoods in an area that has been grappling with poor infrastructure and hackneyed sanitation networks.

Pictures and videos circulated on social media show dozens of homes and residential alleyways as being swamped by rain deluges and wastewater.

Speaking with AGPS, a resident said local authorities have turned deaf ears to civilians’ frequent appeals to work on enhancing infrastructure and repairing sanitation networks.

Living conditions in AlSabina have sharply deteriorated due to the lack of financial resources and high unemployment rates wrought by the raging warfare. A chronic water crisis has added bad to worse.

After eight years of conflict, Palestine refugees continue to be one of the most vulnerable groups in Syria with immense humanitarian needs. Hundreds of displaced Palestinian families continue to launch cries for help as a freezing winter season has enveloped the region.
