Fires Break Out at Palestinian Refugee’s Homes in Hama Camp

Fires broke out at the home of Palestinian refugee Ahmad Fanous, located in the western zone of AlAyedeen camp in Hama.

The fires caused severe material damage. No injuries were reported. UNRWA’s field security and risk management staff rushed to the area to put out the fires.

An AGPS reporter said fires broke out sometime earlier in the area at midnight on Wednesday due to the mounds of plastic trash and copper waste piled up in the area. The fire was extinguished by UNRWA personnel.

Palestinians taking shelter in AlYedeen Camp in Hama have been facing a deteriorating humanitarian situation as a result of the price leap, absence of stable financial resources, the sharp shortage in fuel supplies, frequent power blackouts, and absence of humanitarian assistance.

High rates of unemployment, the security turmoil rocking the region, and the arbitrary arrest sweeps launched by the Syrian security forces have made the situation far worse.
