Last Sunday, the Damascus Opera House in the Syrian capital hosted a symbolic tribute to the late Palestinian-Syrian activist Alaa al-Din Karzon, known as Abu Abdul Rahman, during an event titled \u201cThe Syrian Revolution: A Tribute Celebration.\u201d The tribute recognized his role in supporting displaced Syrians during the years of conflict.<\/p>\n
Organizers stated that the tribute was a recognition of Karzon\u2019s humanitarian and relief efforts, which he carried out both publicly and discreetly, particularly in the period leading up to the siege of the Yarmouk refugee camp for Palestinians south of Damascus.<\/p>\n
During the event, Professor Amer Zinati praised Karzon\u2019s life, considering him a role model for Palestinian-Syrians who engaged in supporting affected local communities during the war. He noted that the tribute also held symbolic significance, encompassing \u201cevery Palestinian-Syrian martyr and all those whose names have faded from public memory.\u201d<\/p>\n
