The fate of Palestinian-Syrian Majdolin al-Qadi remains unknown since her arrest and disappearance in Damascus in March 2013. Her case is one of many reflecting the suffering of thousands of missing and forcibly disappeared persons in Syria, including hundreds of Palestinians.<\/p>\n
According to information from her family, Majdolin al-Qadi worked as a secretary and assistant to Syrian doctor Rania al-Abbasi at her clinic. She disappeared with al-Abbasi on the same day they were arrested, and all contact with them has been lost since.<\/p>\n
Sources close to Dr. Rania al-Abbasi’s family confirmed that Majdoline was not known for any political or human rights activism and that her duties were limited to her work at the medical clinic. However, this did not prevent her disappearance, along with the doctor, during the security campaign that targeted them.<\/p>\n
Over the past years, Majdoline’s family has been unable to obtain any reliable information about her whereabouts or fate. Her mother passed away without ever knowing what had become of her daughter, after years of waiting and searching.<\/p>\n
According to the family, Majdoline’s name appeared only once in a security file attributed to Air Force Intelligence, without any further details regarding her location, legal status, or fate.<\/p>\n
The case of Majdoline al-Qadi remains one of tens of thousands of cases of enforced disappearance that Syria has witnessed in recent years, as the families of the victims continue to demand that the fate of their children be revealed and that those responsible for the violations against them be held accountable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
