The Director General of the General Authority for Palestinian Arab Refugees, Sayed al-Masri, announced a series of measures and plans concerning the legal and service-related status of Palestinian refugees in Syria. These included real estate ownership issues, regularization of legal status, and infrastructure improvements in several Palestinian communities<\/p>\n
. Al-Masri stated that the relevant committee had completed a study of several legal files related to Palestinian refugees and submitted recommendations to reactivate Law No. 260. This would allow for addressing issues related to Palestinian refugees’ property ownership rights and restoring associated privileges.<\/p>\n
He also indicated that there is a move to adopt a project aimed at regularizing the status of Palestinians who arrived in Syria after 1956 and registering them with the General Authority for Palestinian Arab Refugees, thus contributing to the regulation of their legal and administrative status.<\/p>\n
On the service front, Al-Masri explained that the Authority is working on launching projects to rehabilitate sewage networks in both Jaramana Camp and Al-Husayniyah Gathering, as part of a plan aimed at addressing accumulated infrastructure problems this year.<\/p>\n
He also announced the reactivation of the Authority’s supervisory role regarding the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), with the aim of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two sides in humanitarian and development fields through specific operational mechanisms.<\/p>\n
In a related context, Al-Masri revealed the resumption of financial support programs provided by UNRWA to certain categories of Palestinian refugees, noting that there is a move to expand the base of beneficiaries of these programs in the coming period.<\/p>\n
