The National Commission for Missing Persons announced the launch of national consultations on the guiding principles that will underpin the draft law on missing and forcibly disappeared persons. The aim is to involve families of the missing, experts, and relevant stakeholders in formulating the legal framework for this issue.<\/p>\n
The Commission explained that the consultations aim to gather the experiences, opinions, and proposals of participants, contributing to the development of the principles upon which the draft law will be based. This will strengthen the families’ right to know the fate of their loved ones, preserve the dignity of the missing and their families, and organize national efforts related to searching for, uncovering the fate of, and identifying the missing.<\/p>\n
The Commission invited families of the missing and their associations, victims’ organizations, civil society, experts, and relevant stakeholders to register to participate in the consultations via the following link (click here).<\/p>\n
Registration will remain open until July 10, 2026. Participants will be provided with a discussion paper and explanatory materials related to the consultations upon registration’s completion, in preparation for their participation in the various stages of the process.<\/p>\n
These consultations are of particular importance to the thousands of families of the missing and forcibly disappeared in Syria, including Palestinian Syrian refugees, many of whose families have been waiting for years to learn the fate of their children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
