Writer and political researcher Maher Hijazi called on the Syrian Ministry of Interior to exempt the families of Palestinian Syrians married to non-Syrians from the requirement to obtain a visa in advance to enter Syria, considering the current procedures an obstacle to family visits.<\/p>\n
Hijazi stated that the visa application process and its associated time-consuming procedures represent a greater burden than the associated fees. He pointed out that his wife is Palestinian but does not hold Palestinian-Syrian status, and that the visa’s 15-day duration makes frequent family visits extremely difficult.<\/p>\n
He added that dozens of Palestinian-Syrian families face similar circumstances, urging relevant Palestinian institutions to launch an initiative to demand that Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab issue a decree exempting the families of Palestinian Syrians from the prior visa requirement.<\/p>\n
Hijazi pointed out that facilitating the entry of expatriates and their families into Syria would enhance family visits and contribute to revitalizing the local economy and the tourism and investment sectors, calling for measures to facilitate the arrival of families, especially during the summer holiday season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
