Sheikh “Saleh Al-Khatib,” Head of the Reconciliation Committee in the town of Yelda, in the suburbs of Damascus, was subjected to an assassination attempt. He was hit by a gunshot in Yelda, during the late hours of the day before yesterday, and was taken to one of the hospitals of Damascus for treatment. It is still unknown who tried to assassinate "Khatib," since masked men targeted the car he was traveling in.
Khatib’s assassination attempt cames in the midst of talks about meetings between the armed Syrian opposition factions in south Damascus and the Syrian regime, to agree on the fate of the towns controlled by the opposition in the south of Damascus.
