A 60-year-old Palestinian refugee displaced from Yarmouk Camp in Syria to Lebanon appealed for urgent cash assistance so as to enable her to undergo balloon angioplasty to open narrowed coronary arteries to restore proper blood flow to the heart.
Speaking with AGPS on condition of anonymity, the lady said the intervention costs up to $5,000. UNRWA pledged to contribute only $2,000 in aid.
The patient’s husband, who underwent a similar surgery sometime earlier, said he has failed to secure treatment fees for his wife and that his family has been left at the mercy of charities.
