Syria’s Higher Education Council issued Resolution 7, green-lighting the academic calendar for open education for 2018/2019. Students who dropped out of school from March 15, 2011 until September 15, 2018 will have their situation worked out as their absence was deemed legitimate by the council.
Under Resolution 6, the council approved to grant MA students at public universities who attended all courses for the academic year 2016/2017 a time extension to finalize enrollment procedures by December 31, 2018.
Thousands of Palestinians from Syria dropped out of school as a result of the deadly shootouts and bloody hostilities in and around Palestinian refugee camps. Scores of others have been forced to join the pro-government Palestine Liberation Army. Hundreds more have been detained by the Syrian authorities.
