Palestinian Syrian refugees who are detained on charges of entering the country illegally in the Macedonian prisons demanded the United Nations Commission, the international organizations, and the Human Rights to intervene in order to release them and help them find a solution to their problem, and to allow them to emigrate to European countries. They also stressed the improvement of their living conditions inside “Ghazi Baba” Camp in which they live, which it is similarly as a detainee.
The prisons lack to the minimum conditions of hygiene and healthy food, in addition to the small spaces and in large numbers. The detainees demanded their release and allow them to complete their way to Europe. It is noteworthy that Macedonia is one of the points which refugees go through escaping from the war in Syria to Europe.
It is worth mentioning that dozens of Palestinian and Syrian detainees in Macedonian prisons have declared a hunger strike on 22nd of December, protesting at the continued detention in harsh conditions.
