The National Authority for the Missing begins exhuming the remains of victims of the Solidarity Pit

Damascus – Action Group

The National Commission for Missing Persons has begun search and excavation work at the “Solidarity Pit” site in Damascus, in preparation for exhuming the remains of victims summarily executed by Amjad Youssef, as documented in previous investigations. Security forces have imposed a tight cordon around the area, prohibiting access or photography, and banning live media coverage during the operations.
So far, the remains of 12 people, including children, have been recovered, and the search continues under the supervision of a specialized team comprised of doctors and experts trained by international bodies and experts in criminal investigation, forensic medicine, and the handling of mass graves. The excavation and exhumation of remains is expected to continue for several more days, concurrently with documentation and on-site examination at the location.
