Action Group. Idlib
An art and documentary exhibition titled “Detainees and the Disappeared” opened at the Idlib National Museum, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and organized by the “Creative Memory” team of the Syrian Revolution Archive. This initiative sheds light on one of the most prominent humanitarian issues related to the conflict in Syria.
The exhibition, bearing the slogan “Art Documents, Archives Speak,” combines artworks and archival materials to present a visual narrative documenting the suffering of detainees and the forcibly disappeared, reflecting diverse human experiences through various expressive styles.
According to the organizers, the exhibition aims to contribute to preserving collective memory and strengthening the presence of the detainees’ issue in the public sphere by employing art as a means of documentation and expression, alongside archiving, which seeks to solidify the narratives related to this issue.
The exhibition is part of the Idlib Directorate of Culture’s activities aimed at supporting cultural and documentary initiatives and highlighting those concerned with human rights and memory in Syria.
