Intense Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon forced dozens of Syrian-Palestinian families to flee their homes in haste, marking another displacement in a long history of suffering. Panic gripped Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon as the bombardment continued, with families scrambling to escape to safer areas, carrying what belongings and children they could manage, amid fears of a wider escalation.

According to estimates by the Action Group, approximately 700 Syrian-Palestinian families reside in southern Lebanon, distributed across the Burj al-Shamali, Rashidieh, al-Bass, Burj al-Barajneh, and Shatila camps, in addition to about 90 families living outside the camps in various areas.

The group’s correspondent in Lebanon reported that many Syrian-Palestinian families are struggling to find safe shelter due to the ongoing airstrikes and deteriorating security situation.

International humanitarian organizations have warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, noting that displaced families already suffer from precarious living conditions, limited job opportunities, and near-total dependence on aid provided by UNRWA.

The action group called for the opening of safe corridors for civilians and the provision of an urgent humanitarian response that includes shelter, food and health care, in light of the widespread displacement affecting both Lebanese and Palestinians, amid calls for international intervention to contain the escalation and prevent the humanitarian catastrophe from worsening.
