Action Group – Lebanon
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that it has secured funding to provide an additional round of cash assistance to Palestinian refugees from Syria residing in Lebanon, as part of its ongoing response to the emergency situation it declared at the beginning of March.
The agency explained that the assistance will amount to $50 per individual and $120 per family, to be distributed after Eid al-Fitr, with specific dates to be announced later.
UNRWA also indicated that it will allocate $50 in cash assistance to each eligible Palestinian refugee child in Lebanon aged 0-10.
In the same context, UNRWA noted the continued influx of displaced people to its shelters, having received hundreds of displaced individuals in several locations in recent hours, while simultaneously providing them with food and essential supplies.
The agency affirmed its commitment to continuing to provide essential services in the areas of education, health and relief despite the challenges, calling for urgent funding to cover the growing humanitarian needs in the coming period.
