London – Action Group
Over the past few years, the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria has submitted 36 documents to the Human Rights Council, which have been adopted as official Council documents, concerning the plight of Palestinian detainees in Syrian prisons.
The human rights group stated that its efforts have included repeated appeals demanding information on the fate of the detainees, but it has received no response from the Syrian authorities to date. The group has also launched several campaigns to document the names of detainees and has made the documented data available to individuals, researchers, and human rights organizations through its website:

The group noted that it has issued statements and press releases, including the Enforced Disappearance Report 1 and 2 and the Massacre of Images Report, which address Palestinian victims who have been subjected to torture or enforced disappearance. The group emphasized that the number of detainees and victims is higher than officially reported due to the absence of any official statistics.
She added that the documentation team recorded approximately 7,500 Palestinian detainees from the beginning of 2011 until the end of 2024, including young people, journalists, and relief activists, in addition to prominent Palestinian figures and professionals, noting that young people constitute the largest percentage.
The group added that since 2016, the United Nations has invited the Palestinian Return Centre annually to participate in the Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva.
Over the years, the Centre has raised several issues, most notably: enforced disappearances in Syrian prisons, displaced Palestinians in camps in northern Syria and Yarmouk camp, Palestinians from Syria in Thailand, and violations of the rights of Palestinian women from Syria.
The group stated that these documents are part of ongoing efforts to highlight the physical and psychological abuses suffered by Palestinian detainees, to demand information about their fate, and to guarantee their human rights.
