The German ARD network’s BR channel hosted Palestinian-Syrian coach Mahmoud Nasser, originally from the Jaramana refugee camp in rural Damascus, for an interview that covered his sporting and educational journey since leaving Syria in 2015, culminating in a series of professional achievements in Germany.
During the interview, Nasser discussed his integration into German society, explaining that he obtained UEFA C and UEFA B coaching licenses, worked as a referee in the German Bundesliga, and also coached and taught physical education in schools and clubs. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in sports science before being elected president of the BUS eV club.
Nasser is one of the many young people from the Jaramana camp who excelled in sports before leaving Syria, having coached numerous children and young people and contributed to organizing sporting activities aimed at developing their skills and promoting educational values through sports.
According to the interview, Nasser, despite residing in Germany, continues to participate in volunteer initiatives aimed at supporting children and youth in Syria by sharing his sporting and educational expertise, emphasizing his belief in the role of sports in developing the capabilities of younger generations.
Nasser’s appearance on a channel affiliated with the German ARD network reflects the experiences of Palestinian refugees from Syria who have managed to pursue their careers in their host countries and achieve prominence in various sporting and educational fields.
