The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Tuesday the commencement of cash assistance distributions to Palestine refugees in Lebanon, as part of its ‘accelerated response to the humanitarian crisis.
In a statement, the agency explained that the distribution will be carried out in two phases. The first phase, targeting Palestine refugees from Syria, will begin on Thursday, April 2, 2026, with payments of $50 per individual and $120 per family. The second phase, to be disbursed starting mid-next week, will include eligible Palestine refugee children aged 0-10, with payments of $50 per child.
UNRWA stated that the distributions will be made through the offices of the OMT Foundation, and no assistance will be disbursed until beneficiaries receive a text message (SMS) confirming their eligibility.
This assistance was provided as part of the emergency plan implemented by the agency in coordination with its partners, in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis. UNRWA had launched an urgent appeal for US$12.3 million to fund priority response activities over the next 90 days in Lebanon.
